Two face Barcelona

I have never experienced a city that is so different from one day to another. Yes, I have visited Barcelona more often, but never to celebrate Manon her birthday – happy birthday!!!

Tapas and art

Friday was sunny and I had to pick up the keys in a region where English was no option. So, I had some help. Whatsapp to the rescue! I did know that I was going to receive something with cheese and ham, but what?? Without knowing what a Cana was I ordered beer:) and apparently bocadillo is baguette.

For the evening I reserved a table at bar brutal in el born as Manon told me she did not like Spanish wine…. I had to prove her wrong 😉 On the way to the restaurant she showed me some of the most colourful and best murals.

We had a wine tasting of vin nature blanco et tinto. And wow, the best pulpo ever. Manon, do you still think Spanish wine isn’t any good?

Saturday fun day

Saturday was a day to explore the local market at Gracia quarter. Mercat de l’abaceria is a real authentic one – you do need some Spanish to get around – followed by an afternoon spent on Barceloneta beach. Having fresh apricots and cherries does make me wonder why I live in Holland again. Yes, we have great apples, but what else? Together with Charlie’s angels we went to a rooftop gin tonic party to start the celebratory night.

Rainy Sunday

This was a day to spend indoors due to the rain, but we made it to the Joan Miro foundation and had some  paella for lunch. To finish it off in style Manon booked a table at flax&kale – super hipster – they have more than 20 fresh juices.

Disconnected in Barcelona, me gusta!
